Historically Worthless Greek Wine Cup

(July 23, 2025) This pot is unprovenanced with many areas having reconstructed lettering over abraded areas making the whole pot worthless in regards to epigraphic history. Many of these labels seem to have been added later based upon early Greek mythology in order to make the pot more valuable for collectors. I leave it here as an example of likely historical fraud as a warning to all future translators.

This drinking cup is from the British Museum who date it to 570 BCE. It has been assujed to be from the Greek pot painter Sophilos who is not actually mentioned on the pot painter. The letter style is mostly Etruscan with some later Greek lettering added further making its text further suspect.
