The Magic Trail (purple) was a branch on the silk road which was established by Herod the Great (37 BCE to 4 BCE) when he built the port city of Caesarea Maritima. Herod the Great's territory is shown by the red borders. The Magic Trail was the trade route which connected Persia and Mesopotamia with the Mediterranean. Herod got most of his wealth from this trade which allowed him to build his palaces and the temple in Jerusalem. The Persian Achaemenid Empire equivalent to the Druids were the Magi and their ideas began to enter Galilee when this route opened up between 25 and 13 BCE.
After Herod the Great died, his son Herod Antipas inherited part of Herod the Great's kingdom and he started to build the town of Capernaum as a customs stop on his kingdom's border to collect taxes. Jesus moved there as a young man to work in construction. While at Capernaum he would have been exposed to the ideas of the Magi/Druids which convinced him that the end times idea of a kingdom of God could not come with violence and conquest because that would inject hatred into that supposedly heavenly kingdom. This trade route also triggered the development of Jewish mysticism in Galilee which produced the Kabbala (Cabala).
The Jesus birth story in the Biblical book of Matthew wanted to make sure the reader understood that Jesus was teaching in the magical tradition:
Significantly, the word "Magi" was changed to "Wise men" in the King James version of the English Bible out of a desire to suppress anything magical.
