Jewish-Roman War Coins From Jerusalem  66-70 CE

The lettering style of these coins is not the same as the Hebrew letters found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Akkadian and Hebrew texts seem to have been circulating at the same time with Akkadian still being used on official state purposes. Akkadian was like the Latin of the modern era at this time.  By this time both Akkadian and Hebrew texts from Judah  had reversed the /s/ sound between Ṣ and Š from that found in older Alphabetic Akkadian texts. This change is reflected in the shibboleth story of Judges 12:5-6.
