Kalleby Runestone Translation - Tanumshede - 400 CE

For translation methodology see: How to Translate Alphabetic Akkadian Texts

Rune letters on Kalleby Runestone drawn by Helge König around 2011. Red letter assignments by Olmsted. These letters are in the coastal style.

Photo showing the runestone's scale with the provider of the close-up image (2011).
The runestone is made of granite and is located in the small town of  Tanumshede, Sweden. It is on the other side of Riksvägen street across from a church at the end of the village were it was place a long time ago.
The stone has been placed upside down. Why are these important texts out in the weather!?

Translation of Kalleby Runestone

(June 14, 2023)  Su is the full moon god and source of astrological motion powers. This text is remining people of the powers of their main deities of Hu (sun) and Su (full moon) and how they affect the life network which brings life enabling fertility fluids to earth.

Lots of thanks to Ulrich, Elfriede, and Helge König for these photos and inscription. Ulrich reports on their investigation:

Using cut-out photos and a magnifying glass, my wife Elfriede meticulously traced the runes, which can no longer be recognized with certainty (although formerly marked with red paint on the stone) on a photo (210×297 mm). Our son Helge scanned this photo (cut off at the top and bottom). The runes, on the other hand, were hardly recognizable. Helge has succeeded in precisely tracing the marked rune lines with an image processing program. Figure 2.

Tanumshede Has Bronze Age Rock Art: 1800-500 BCE

(July 21, 2023) The word "shade" means "division." So Taanumshede means "Tanum's subdivision." This rock art appeared only after the Indo-Europeans arrived and started mixing with the Akkadian speaking natives. The 'Tanum petroglyphs' represent 1000's of images on over 600 panels, concentrated in distinct areas along a 25 km stretch which was originally the coastline of a fjord during the Bronze Age. The site covers an area of about 51 hectares (126 acres). The petroglyphs depict boats (the Hjortspring boat), wagons (or carts), animals, and humans with bows, spears and axes. As well as hunting scenes, human rituals are depicted.
